This is the third iteration the Australian Press Council website. Long time visitors to this site will notice immediately that we have restructured the site in a number of ways.

We have:

  • restructured the directories & information on the site
  • put in a new navigation system
  • changed the look & feel
  • installed a search engine for keyword and other searchs
  • provided a sitemap
  • Our intention is to make this very large site easier to use, easier to navigate and faster to download. Let us know what you think.

    Site and Information Design

The Australian Press Council Website was redesigned by Catherine McDonnell, a freelance information designer in Sydney. She is responsible for the navigation and for the page designs on the copyright, links and credits page. She also redeveloped the "front page" to its current state.

Inquiries about these designers should be directed to Catherine McDonnell.

    Editing & Writing

Jack R Herman, who acts as the Website editor, is responsible for all uncredited material, not written by the Council. Deborah Kirkman acts as associate content editor and poofreader.

    Coding and Scripting

The HTML coding and other non-specialist scripting was performed by Jack R Herman and Catherine McDonnell.

The CGI coding and Javascripts for on line forms were developed by Stephen Hart and Cath McDonnell.

    Menu System
The Council has used ULTIMATE DROP DOWN MENU - Javascript Menu Version 3.8.4 by Brothercake. Ultimate Drop Down Menu is a sophisticated javascript menu system, which is easy to use, includes technical support for commercial users, and has the widest level of cross-browser support of any dhtml menu script in existence.
